How do you get a Book online button on Google?
Open your Business Profile on Google, tap Booking, then Add link, paste the address of your booking page and tap Save. Your business has to be verified with Google first. Google doesn’t accept social media or messaging links there, so your Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp won’t do. It wants a page for your business where a client can actually book. A Covered Beauty booking page, which we make, is that kind of page, from £9 a month, and adding the link to Google is free.
Why is it worth doing?
Someone who searches your salon’s name is already most of the way to booking. They’ve heard of you from a friend, seen your work or been before. If your listing only gives them a phone number, they ring while you’re with a client, or they message and wait.
A booking link on your listing lets them book there and then, at eleven at night if that’s when they think of it, without a call or a message. It sits beside your reviews, your opening hours and the map, which is where a lot of people decide.
What will Google accept as a booking link?
This is where most people come unstuck. Google’s rules say the link has to:
- go to a page for your business, not a general home page, and for a business with more than one place, a page for that place
- let the client finish what the button says, so a booking link has to let them book
And Google won’t accept:
- social media links, so not your Instagram or Facebook
- messaging links, so not WhatsApp
- app store links
- link shorteners
So if your bookings run through your messages, there’s nothing you can put in that box yet. You need a page where clients can see your treatments, pick a time and book. Google also says not every business can add every kind of link, and that some countries and regions can’t, so if you don’t see Booking at all, that may be why.

How do you add it?
Your business needs to be verified with Google before you can add a link. If Google says yours isn’t, sort that out first.
From Google Search
- Search for your business and open your Business Profile.
- Tap Booking.
- Tap Add link. If you already have links, tap Add another link.
- Paste your booking page’s address.
- Tap Save.
From Google Maps
- Open your Business Profile.
- Tap Edit profile, then Booking.
- Tap Add link, paste your address and tap Save.
Got more than one booking link? Set preferred link, under Booking, picks the one Google shows first. Google moves its menus around now and then, so if Booking isn’t where these steps say, look for it under Edit profile.

What if another booking app’s link is already there?
Booking apps that work with Google can put their own link on your listing. If you’ve left one and its link is still showing, open Booking (on Maps, Edit profile and then Booking) and choose Remove Provider. Google says providers have to take a link off within five days of being asked.

How long does it take to show?
Google’s help pages don’t say. They do say Google checks business links and can take off any that break its rules or that its checker can’t open. So give it a few days, then search your salon’s name in a private window, signed out, to see what a client sees. Google decides what shows on a listing, and what it shows can change.

What if Google won’t take your link?
- Check the address has no spaces or stray characters at the end.
- Use the full address, not a shortened one.
- Make sure it opens your own page, not a general home page.
- Make sure the page opens for anyone, with no login, no puzzle to solve and nothing that stops visitors from other countries. Google’s checker has to be able to open it.
- Google takes one link from each web address, so if the same site’s address is on your listing already, edit that one instead of adding another.
