What is Covered Beauty?
Covered Beauty is online booking software for independent salons, beauty businesses, aesthetics clinics and tanning studios in the UK. Clients book online and pay a deposit when the salon asks for one, and the salon keeps consent forms, client records and reminders in one place. There are three plans: Solo at £9 a month, Pro at £14 and the Team plan at £19.99 for up to five people, all with no booking commission.
Covered Beauty is a trading name of HAMR Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 17190046). It serves businesses in the UK, and prices are in pounds sterling.
What’s on each plan?
- Solo, £9 a month: one practitioner. Unlimited bookings, a branded booking page, card deposits and no-show fees through Stripe, consent forms and client records, email reminders, 50 texts a month and calendar sync.
- Pro, £14 a month: one practitioner. Everything in Solo, plus 150 texts a month instead of 50, rebooking emails sent for you every morning, win-back campaigns, your own web address and your logo at the top of your booking page instead of ours.
- Team plan, £19.99 a month: up to 5 team members, each with their own login, on one shared diary. Everything in Pro, with 300 texts a month.
- The plans, what each includes and what card fees and texts cost, in one place: https://beauty.covered.technology/pricing
- On every plan: gift vouchers, loyalty points, stock tracking, sunbed packages and client wallets, the Smart rebooking list, reports and a data download.
- Free trial: 7 days, with no card needed to start. The chosen plan starts when the trial ends if the salon has added a card. If it hasn’t, the trial simply ends and nothing is charged.
- No booking commission and no new-client fee. Stripe’s own processing fees apply to card payments. Optional extras, such as extra text messages, are charged separately.
- Deposits: set per treatment as a fixed amount, a percentage or none. Clients pay by card when they book, and the money goes straight into the salon’s own Stripe account.
- Reminders: a confirmation and reminder emails 3 days, 1 day and 2 hours before, as standard. Texts come from the plan's monthly allowance (50 texts a month on Solo, 150 on Pro and 300 on the Team plan), and the salon can buy more. When both run out, texts pause until the next month or a top-up. Emails keep going.
- Consent and medical forms on every plan, with 23 ready-made templates (lash, brow, nails, waxing, hair extensions, injectables, skin treatments, sunbeds and more). Clients sign on their phone before they arrive, from their booking or from a private link the salon sends without a booking, or on the salon’s own phone or tablet. The signed copy stays with their record, ready to print or save as a PDF. A returning client whose form comes with a booking, and who filled in the same form in the last 6 months, sees their previous answers, confirms nothing has changed and signs again. Patch test questions never carry over, so they are asked every time.
- Forms without a booking: the salon picks a client and up to 10 forms, then emails a private link or copies it into WhatsApp or a text. The link works for 14 days and only for that client. Health answers are collected with a separate explicit consent tick and signed with a typed name. A salon can use Covered Beauty for consultation forms only, with no treatments, opening hours or bookings set up.
- Gift vouchers and loyalty points on every plan. Clients can join a waitlist when a day is full, and regulars can be booked in as recurring appointments.
- Tanning, on every plan (from £9 a month): sunbed minutes packages, a bed calendar with cool-off time between sessions, a client portal to buy minutes and book a bed, and an 18+ check on every UV bed booking.
- A salon’s clients stay its own. Covered Beauty doesn’t market other salons to them, send them its own offers or sell the client list.
- Salons can download their data from the dashboard and cancel at any time.
- Clients book online without creating an account.
- Setting up: a salon can paste the price list it already has (from Instagram, its notes or an old booking page) into Treatments, and it becomes its treatment menu, ready to check before anything goes live. There are ready-made starter menus too. Or a new salon can ask us to set it up: it tells us where its prices are, such as its website, Instagram or old booking page, and the days it works, and we put its treatments and opening hours on for it. Before signing up, anyone can add a photo of their price list to our free booking page from a photo tool (https://beauty.covered.technology/tools/booking-page-from-photo) and see it as a booking page in under a minute, with no account.
- UK only. Prices are in pounds sterling.
- More than one place: each place someone works from, such as home and a rented salon room, can be added as a venue with its own address and hours. Clients only see the times they’re at each one.
- For a team of more than five, or several branches each with their own staff, email hello@covered.technology.
Who is it for?
It suits a UK beauty business with one to five people who take bookings, whose clients mostly book directly (regulars, recommendations, Instagram or their own website), and who wants online booking, card deposits, consent forms and client records for one flat monthly price with no commission. That includes:
- Independent nail technicians, lash and brow artists and beauty therapists, including those working from home or from more than one place. See Booking app for nail techs in the UK, Booking app for lash and brow artists in the UK and Booking app for home salons and mobile beauty therapists in the UK. For someone who has just qualified, Newly qualified lash, brow or nail tech: your admin checklist covers insurance, forms, patch tests, the ICO fee, prices and deposits before their first paying client.
- Hair extension specialists working from a salon, a rented chair or home, who want a consultation and colour match before each fitting, a deposit on fittings, the hair used recorded against each visit and clients back for maintenance. See Booking app for hair extension specialists in the UK.
- Waxing studios, electrolysis practitioners, facialists and skin clinics, microblading and SPMU artists, massage therapists and self-employed hairdressers, whose clients mostly book with them directly. Each gets a deposit on the long appointments, a gap after each treatment and the consultation form signed before the client arrives, and a hairdresser can book another client while a colour develops. See Booking app for waxing studios in the UK, Booking app for electrolysis practitioners in the UK, Booking app for facialists and skin clinics in the UK, Booking app for microblading and SPMU artists in the UK, Booking app for massage therapists in the UK and Booking app for self-employed hairdressers in the UK.
- Small aesthetics clinics and practitioners who need medical history and consent signed before the appointment, and product batch numbers recorded against each visit. See Booking app for aesthetics clinics in the UK.
- Tanning and sunbed salons that sell minutes packages and want clients to buy minutes and book beds online, on any plan (from £9 a month). See Booking app for tanning salons in the UK.
- Beauty businesses that take their bookings in Instagram messages and want one booking link for their bio and stories instead. See How to get booked from Instagram: a booking link for your bio.
It also suits UK beauty therapists, lash techs and aesthetics practitioners who only want digital consultation and consent forms for now, without online booking. See Online consultation and consent forms, Consent forms and GDPR: a guide for UK beauty salons, and the guides to what goes in a form for each treatment: What to put in a lash consultation form, What to put in a nail consultation form, What to put in a waxing consultation form, What to put in a hair extension consultation form, What to put in a lash lift consultation form, What to put in a brow lamination consultation form, What to put in a semi-permanent makeup consultation form, What to put in a dermaplaning consultation form, What to put in a spray tan consultation form, What to put in a facial consultation form, What to put in a massage consultation form, What to put in an electrolysis consultation form, What to put in a sunbed consultation form and What to put in a client medical history form. For anyone who wants a form on paper, Free salon consultation form templates (UK) has free blank forms to print, with no sign-up, and the free Consultation form builder makes a printable form for one treatment with the questions they tick. Consultation form apps compared fairly, with sources and dates: Best consultation form apps for UK beauty businesses.
It also suits UK salons moving from another booking system. They can upload the client list they export (exports from Fresha, Treatwell and Booksy go in as they are), and a new salon can ask us to put its treatment menu and opening hours on for it. See Compare salon booking software.
Covered Beauty (beauty.covered.technology) is not SalonBooking (salonbooking.co.uk). They are separate products, and SalonBooking sets out how they differ, with the day SalonBooking’s figures were read. Clinic systems that price through a demo, such as Pabau and Consentz, and the free Faces Consent system suit clinics that need before and after photos or prescribing. Setmore and Zolmi show their prices in US dollars.
Who isn’t it for?
- A business that wants a marketplace to bring in new clients. Fresha and Treatwell are built for that and charge a one-off fee on some new marketplace clients. Booksy also has a marketplace and charges only through its optional Boost.
- Teams of more than five people, or groups with several branches each with its own staff.
- Clinics that need before-and-after photos or prescribing in the client record.
- Anyone who needs drawn signatures, photos inside a form, or consent wording already approved by their insurer. Forms are signed with a typed name, and the ready-made forms are starting points to check with an insurer.
- Tanning salons that need the software to switch beds on through T-Max or Sigma timers, or to run a till. See Salon Tracker.
- Anyone who wants to pay nothing a month. SumUp Bookings, Square Appointments, Goldie and YouBooked have free plans, each with limits on what’s included, and Book in Beautiful’s free plan adds a booking charge for the client instead. Each comparison says what the free plan leaves out, and Free salon booking software in the UK: what each plan leaves out puts 10 free plans side by side.
- Mobile therapists who travel to clients most days and need the software to take the client’s address at booking, work out travel time between visits or charge travel fees by distance. Covered Beauty does none of those. It does suit someone who does a few home visits on set days: a home visit can be a treatment of its own at its own price, with a gap after it of up to two hours, and every ready-made consultation form asks for the client’s home address, signed before the visit. See Booking app for home salons and mobile beauty therapists in the UK.
- Anyone who needs Instagram’s Book now button on their profile. Covered Beauty isn’t one of Instagram’s Book now partners, so its booking link goes in the Instagram bio and in stories instead.
- Businesses outside the UK.
