Should sunbeds be team members or resources on Fresha?
Set your beds up as bookable resources, not team members. Fresha charges by the team member, so every bed added as one costs £9.95 a month plus VAT, the same as a person. Its pricing page lists resources among its features with no charge of their own, and its blog says clients can book a resource such as a sunbed directly, with no team member, on the resource’s own hours. So an owner working alone with three beds set up as team members pays £39.80 a month plus VAT, and with the beds as resources it’s £14.95 plus VAT. Read on Fresha’s own pages on 3 November 2026.
We make Covered Beauty, which competes with Fresha, so read this knowing that. The first half of this page is about saving money on Fresha, whether you ever move or not. Every Fresha figure links to Fresha’s own page.
What does each set-up cost on Fresha?
Fresha’s UK prices, before and with VAT at 20%, for a salon with three beds.
| Set-up | Plan | Before VAT | With VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| You alone, beds as resources | Independent | £14.95 | £17.94 |
| You and one member of staff, beds as resources | Team, 2 team members | £19.90 | £23.88 |
| You alone, three beds as team members | Team, 4 team members | £39.80 | £47.76 |
| You and one member of staff, three beds as team members | Team, 5 team members | £49.75 | £59.70 |
On top of the plan, Fresha takes a one-time 20% fee, minimum £4 plus VAT, on a brand-new client who finds you through its marketplace. Returning clients carry no fee. Card payments have fees of their own. New accounts get a 7-day trial.

Why are some beds set up as team members?
A team member gets a column in the calendar, so a bed set up as one gets a column too, and clients can pick it. That’s why some sunbed salons did it. A three-bed salon that asked us about switching in November 2026 had done exactly that.
Fresha’s blog post of 23 March 2026 introduced resources that clients can book directly, with no team member, each on its own weekly hours, and gave sunbeds as an example. Its pricing page lists resources among the features and charges by the team member, with no charge for a resource. So a bed set up as a resource doesn’t add the £9.95 a month that a team member costs.

How do you switch a bed to a resource?
- In Fresha, go to Settings, then Resources, then Manage Resources, and add each bed as a resource.
- Give each one its weekly hours, and set it so clients can book it on its own.
- Put your sunbed services on the beds they use.
- Move the future bookings from each bed’s team member column onto its resource. Check with Fresha’s help team what happens to a column’s bookings before you remove a team member.
- Remove the beds as team members, and check your next bill counts only people.
The menu path and the booking without a team member are from Fresha’s blog post. Fresha’s help team can walk you through your own account.

When is Fresha the better fit?
If a lot of your new clients find you on Fresha’s marketplace, staying may be worth its new client fee, as that’s something we can’t match. Fresha also has a point of sale for selling lotions and other retail, which we don’t. With your beds set up as resources, an owner working alone pays £14.95 plus VAT a month.
What would Covered Beauty cost instead?
Beds aren’t people in Covered Beauty, and they aren’t counted on any plan. Sunbeds come with Pro and the Team plan. Pro is £14 a month for an owner working alone, and the Team plan is £19.99 for up to 5 people with their own logins, however many beds you have. There’s no new client fee, and you get 7 days free with no card.
- Each bed has its type, high-powered lie-down and stand-up included, its own lengths, a price for each length and cool-off time between sessions.
- Clients buy minutes packages, with a use-within period if you want one, and use them on the beds they cover.
- Clients book online and pay at the salon, or with their minutes, or by card once Stripe is connected on Payouts.
- Walk-ins go straight on the bed calendar, and staff can change a session’s length or move it at the desk.
- Your Fresha reviews come with you: paste them in or add screenshots, check each one, and they show as from Fresha.
